About EPS | |||||
Expanded polystyrene (EPS) has been conducted for the first time in Germany in 1954. by BASF company which protected it under name of "Stiropor®". Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is a sort of polymer material with reduced weight, good mechanical and thermal properties, made of hydrogen, carbon and air. The material itself is made of 98% of air and only 2% of polymer. This composition gives EPS a very low thermal conductivity, great compression power and absorption of impact and low price. This combination of characteristics makes this material very usable in many industries, especially in packaging and building industry. |
